Well for my inaugural post – here is a quick thought on the word “strategy”. It can mean many things to different people. In short – I would recommend that from a consulting and business stand point you consider “strategy” to be equal to something like the following…
“Figuring out what the heck is going to make my operation, business, marketing, profitability or whatever I am interested in working on …. BETTER”
“Strategy” can encompass plans, goals, focus areas, impact assessment and anything else important – but the bottom line is it’s about YOUR bottom line. That is the first step in defining a web technology strategy – what’s the bottom line you want to improve?

Couldn’t have said it better my self. Nothing like buying a pile of digital paper and feeling no real effect.
I think of strategy in the technical arena – its bout using technology to solve problems – workflow, communication, connecting people, etc.
I’m with ya…here is a definition of strategy I found in Wikipedia.
“A strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a particular goal.”
In business your “particular goal” should have a direct or indirect positive impact on your bottom line, if it doesn’t why are you investing time in it?
